A monologue is a short statement of a character's innermost thoughts. The technique is commonly seen in Nordic larps.
While expressing in-character information, a monologue is usually made out-of-character. For example, in New Voices in Art, monologues are described as "part of the game, but are not heard by the characters... As a player you may use what you learn when someone speaks their mind to guide further interaction with that character, but you must keep it within plausible coincidences". The technique can be used to steer play, or it can be used to provide comedy.
