KapCon is a roleplaying convention in New Zealand. It runs every January in Wellington, NZ, and since 2003 has been held at Wellington High School. While the core of the convention is table roleplaying games, since 2001 it has held a flagship larp which for a long time provided a focus for the Wellington larp community. In recent years it has also offered a variety of small theatre-style larps as part of its normal gaming streams.

History

Before 2001 KapCon was exclusively focused on tabletop gaming. In 2001 a change of venue and timetable resulted in a larp being held and this format has been retained ever since. Many of the flagships have since been run at other New Zealand conventions.
