An example of a coded character nametag from Flight of the Hindenburg.

A badge code is a technique used in some New Zealand theatre-style larps to convey information secretly to some players by adding a variety of symbols to the character name tags. Information can be conveyed by the symbols themselves, or by their placement, with information on what the symbols mean placed on character sheets or ability cards. It is typicly used to convey information that can be learned at a glance using special powers (e.g. whether someone has magical powers, is evil, or dead).
