A horde game is a theatre-style larp where the players are split into two groups: a "cast" who retain their characters throughout the game, and a "horde" who cycle through various roles as required by the GM. The cast can be viewed as PCs and the horde as NPCs or crew. The first game of this type at Intercon was Buses Welcome, created at Intercon 10.5 in 1995.[1] While it was not labelled a "horde game", the term was in use by Intercon XIII.[2] The game structure is most suited to comedy larps.
Example games
- Collision Imminent!
- City Council of Hound's Teeth
- Time Travel Review Board
- Victoria Junction - All change please, all change!.
