A roleplaying convention in Melbourne, Australia.
Mission statement
We’re an open, inclusive and friendly community of tabletop and roleplaying gamers, GMs, and creators! 🌈😊 Our games convention, Conquest, runs every year in Melbourne, Australia. It is held over the Easter weekend so that we can take advantage of the public holidays!
Our community is dedicated to providing a variety of different games in order to suit all ages and gaming styles. GMs, storytellers and creators have the opportunity to run RPGs of their own invention, while using their own gaming system.
We also host games derived from known genres or gaming systems, such as Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Call of Cthulhu.
If it’s a tabletop game, social live action roleplaying game, board game, or miniatures war game, chances are you’ll see it at Conquest!
History
Conquest is one of Australia's longest-running games conventions, first held in 1989 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
The convention has also ran for many years out of a few different school venues, such as University High School, Melbourne in 1998, and Melbourne High School between at least 2006-2015. [Some dates uncertain]. High school venues were popular for allowing games to be run each in different classrooms, minimising noise from other games. But increases in hire costs at schools due to increased security, and a reluctance to hire out to external groups, have led to the decline in school-based venues for local game conventions.
Following the loss of school venues, there was a decline for a number of years in hosting freeforms at Conquest due to a lack of space. But thanks to volunteer advocacy and gaining extra space at Coburg Town Hall, freeforms have now returned to Conquest. Conquest in 2026 will be held in the Coburg Town Hall.
Conquest also sometimes holds a secondary event, "Conquest Market", later in the year.
