The MIT Assassins' Guild is one of the oldest larping organisations in the world. Organised in 1982 out of an informal circle of players of Killer style assassin games, the group went on to develop broader genres of LARP, in both theatre-style and a unique ten day game format.
The Assassin's Guild has a well-developed larp infrastructure and has generated several tools for GMs, including
- GameTeX, a specialised version of laTeX for writing larps;
- A set of Standard Rules (including multiple combat options)
- A Mechanicomicon of commonly used mechanics
- A Gamewriting guide focusing on common design issues and logistics
