Summary
A week before the US opening of the first Harry Potter film, Enigma capitalized on the media attention to run a LARP based on the series, inviting the public at large to enjoy (for free) a few hours at Hogwarts. Designed partially as a recruiting tool for the club, the game attracted many first time LARPers and role-players.
Characters were students, and one of the primary activities was classroom lessons, during which they learned spells and potions that could be of use to them in other contexts during the game, particularly for certain pre-planned difficulties that beset the students. A Quidditch Tournament was also held between the school's houses.
Setting
The fictional school of Hogwarts, created by JK Rowling.
Learnings
The idea of using a classroom setting to teach in-game skills to novice players was re-used in Space Cadets: Guardians of the High Frontier.
