The Adelaide Roleplaying Community Inc. (ARC) is a non-profit organization and roleplaying community in Adelaide. ARC supports both Live Combat LARPs and Parlour LARPS - campaign type, length, and style all vary depending on the team behind each unique campaign or project. Teams are made up of volunteers from within the community, and both participation and volunteering is based on holding organisation membership.

Mission statement

The Adelaide Roleplaying Community Inc. is a non-profit organization entirely run by volunteers that offers a diverse range of roleplaying events in the Adelaide region for both members and the general public. Our events include tabletop days, murder mysteries, social events, and Live Action Role Playing events. Our mission is to encourage and promote roleplaying games, provide support and education to the community on organizing roleplaying events, and facilitate roleplaying games, particularly Live Action Role Play events, by offering advice and access to resources.
We also aim to foster a positive and inclusive community for members regardless of sexuality, gender, race, or disability and to take a zero tolerance approach to harassment, discrimination, bullying, and illegal actions that present a threat to the safety and wellbeing of members, guests, and the community. Additionally, we support those who want to organize their own events by providing assistance with sourcing volunteers, props, resource materials, and promotional items.

History

The Adelaide Roleplaying Community Inc. (ARC) was founded in September 2014 at an Inaugural General Meeting that had seven attendees. The first gameline was a Vampire: the Requiem game called The Dark Before Dawn and it was primarily ran out of the Game Master's home for two years with four of the more important sessions at Tranmere Sea Scouts. There were sixteen attendees during this campaign.

In late 2015, a local LARPCraft subsidiary pivoted and became Southern Wilds which later sought to join ARC and became its second gameline. By 2017 there was a tradition of having two monthly games each year alongside an annual weekend event. ARC has run games in a variety of genres ranging from science fiction to post-apocalyptic, fantasy to historical horror, urban fantasy to modern horror. ARC also runs a variety of game styles including live combat (both foam blaster and foam sword), political parlour and full investigation games.

Thus far there have been over twenty gamelines ranging from weekenders to monthly campaigns to once off events.

Games

As of 2026 there are two monthly campaigns running in ARC nearing completion. A Mage: the Awakening game set in modern Canada and a Demon: the Fallen game set against the backdrop of the British Home Front in World War II.

Recent and upcoming games include:

  • Meditations on Betrayal runs on the October 2026 long weekend in a house in the middle of the woods. It is a slow-burn horror game where you take part as either a cult leader in it for the money, enthusiastic new member, cynical new member, or one of three hikers in the wrong place at the wrong time. It follows the events of a spiritual retreat that begins with the usual sort of activities and ends with a fight for your (character’s) life.
  • Time Traveller’s Paradox is a monthly parlour game that follows Time Travellers who exist at the end of time, either sent into the future or brought here the Last Day when time stood still. They are tasked with a mission: kill the source of the frozen day, whether the source be DIVINE or mortal. If they can bleed; they can die.
  • In 2027: Legends of Nightfall Island, is a monthly parlour game set in a fantasy world where those who have recently settled a small island off the coast of the mainland have to contend with the threats of their mysterious island shortly after the long causeway to the mainland collapses during some seemingly natural event.
