A monologue is a short statement of a character's innermost thoughts. The technique is commonly seen in Nordic larps.

While expressing in-character information, a monologue is usually made out-of-character. For example, in New Voices in Art, monologues are described as "part of the game, but are not heard by the characters... As a player you may use what you learn when someone speaks their mind to guide further interaction with that character, but you must keep it within plausible coincidences".[1] The technique can be used to steer play, or it can be used to provide comedy.
