A badge code is a technique used in some theatre-style larps to convey information to the players.

The information can be public and known by everyone or able to be learned at a glance (e.g. the race or species of the character, or their annual income in Regency games). Or it can be secret, or learnable by using special powers (e.g. whether someone has magical powers, is evil, or actually dead). It can be conveyed by simply printing it on the badge, by colour, font, borders, or the placement of symbols. Information on how badges are interpreted can be placed on character sheets or ability cards.
