It was started by Christian Brown, Morgan Joeck, Bill Maxwell and Aaron Vanek. Their first program, [http://seekersunlimited.com/?page_id=46 Star Seekers], was designed to review math and science lesson standards for a 6th grade class in a Chatsworth charter school. Their second program, [http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/906612014/hit-seekers-a-math-game-in-the-music-industry Hit Seekers], uses a modern, music industry scenario to assist students with math skills.

[http://melodramaticmysteries.com/ Melodramatic Mysteries] is an immersive larp organization started by Pam Hargrove and Lianna Lawrence. They run approximately four interactive theater events per year, each a one-shot lasting between four and eight hours.

MM games emphasize role-playing, detailed pre-written characters and high production values. Their content ranges across many genres, from fantastical to realistic. Their events often take place at Wyvern Manor, the private Victorian home of Hargrove and Lawrence in the City of Orange, California, but some events have had scenes in multiple locations across Orange.

They utilize a simple rule system, high NPC to player ratio, and production elements such as props from award-winning crafters.

[http://www.livegamelabs.com/ Live Game Labs] is a consortium of roughly a dozen veteran LARP designers and GMs in the Greater Los Angeles area. Most of them have strong associations with Enigma, the UCLA speculative fiction and gaming club. Enigma members designed over 100 multi-genre, multi-system larps starting in 1988. A handful of Enigma larp designers founded LGL in 2009 with the name “Enigma Live Game Labs”, but dropped the "Enigma" moniker a year later. They have had a heavy presence at [[WyrdCon]], the Southern California interactive storytelling convention.

LGL is an independent organization for the promotion of LARPs run by our members. Their general style of live action role playing events are described as:

Roughly 12-30 players per game, although they have had both more and fewer players
One-shot events running for one night only, or a series of one-shot larps with a single narrative spread over month, although Starship Valkyrie, by Christian Brown, is a continuing monthly campaign
Theater-style
Thematically diverse: historical, science fiction, horror, fantasy, westerns, crossover genres, adaptations of known shows, movies, comics, as well as experimental larps such as STEEDS.

[http://www.larpalliance.net/ LARP Alliance Inc.] is a 501c non-profit company dedicated to supporting the LARP/LRP & ARG (Live Action Role Playing & Alternate Reality Gaming) communities by assisting and educating new and current participants.

They provide information on what LARP is, where to find events, how to start your own LARP, where to find staff and cast for your events and media projects, tips & articles, and where to find and make gear and garb.

Weapon-building classes, Dramatic coaching, Live Combat Fighter Practices and other workshops are taught by the various Guilds of the LARP Alliance.

They hold events and social get-togethers (Gatherings, Karaoke, Movie Nights, Dance Clubs, Sports games, Charities, Faires, etc) regularly.

The LARP Alliance is based in Southern California, though its mission extends globally. The Board of Directors is made up of various individuals from all over the world with one goal to advance the art by combining resources.

They are always looking for new people to join. As an organization based on promotion and education, they are also looking for individuals with select skills (photography, web design, costume design) that would be willing to donate time, experience or other contributions to our efforts.

Players create fantasy personas that live and adventure in the fictional kingdom of Warwick, which is inhabited by trolls, faeries, and many other strange and fantastic creatures. Combat is acted out through the use of safe, padded boffer weapons. The rules covering combat, and everything else in the game, are simple, effective, and fun.

In addition to fighting and roleplaying, AOKP encourages learning, growth, and the development of skills such as art, costuming, music and storytelling. Some of our members have gone on to work in the entertainment industry, theater, special effects and publishing, among others. Others have become contributing members of larger organizations such as the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and Renaissance Pleasure Faire.

AOKP is originally a student and alumni club based on the Whittier College campus in Whittier, California. More than merely a game or club, AOKP is a family. We are a community of friendly, creative and fun people that enjoy activities together both as our characters and our regular selves. AOKP is always looking to welcome new students into our midst.
