Battleboarding (UK) is the process of counting hits and updating a character sheet after a combat. It was used in Treasure Trap, where boffer weapons were covered in coloured dye in order to mark hits and the complex location-based combat system required tracking.

Modern games usually use an honour system, trusting the players to count their own hits.
